Coolest Pumpkin Ever!

Halloween is almost over.. I wanted to post up a really neat pumpkin we saw. It was so cute, a burger pumpkin! Pumpkin seeds on top, pumpkin for the bun, lettuce, pickles, cheese and tomatoes.

My son had a real fun time, his best friend came along with us and they got a lot of candy. More lights were off than last year it seemed. We even took Gizmo (the coolest little pug in the whole wide world!). My brother ended up chasing him around most of the night lol. I swear sometimes Gizmo is worse than a baby. He thinks he is our little baby, the biggest five year old baby ever!

I had a great time tonight taking the kiddie and his bud trick or treating. It was topped  with some a$$hole trying to hit me on the way home. Blaring the horn turning in the wrong area of the road. Sigh.. I hope the boogie man gets them on their way home.

I'm finally happy with how this thing looks!

Bleh!  Just got done, yet again, with another revamp of the site. I'm actually a lot happier with this look than what I had previously. This template was so annoying to work with on the header. But, I got it to work out nicely I think!

I don't know what possessed me to rework the site. I suppose it was time to change out the banner to something else. I wasn't very happy with the look I had since changing over from wordpress. So if you popped in earlier and saw some funky stuff.. that's why! This is here to stay, I think I'd rather poke my eyes out than change it again. I'm so rusty with html it makes the old gears have to work!

Anyhow I'm happy with it, I really like it, hope you readers like it. A little easier on the eyes I think. Anyhow time for me to get some grub! Enjoy the pretty picture of EQ2 ;)

Free Realms, Well Done!

Free Realms has a nifty promotion going on currently. Sponsored Free items! Who doesn't love free cool items for their character? All you have to do is watch an ad and click continue at the bottom. To start out, simply log in and go to the profile page, under the stats list there should be a button offering an item where the Redeem-A-Code box is. Zam has a walk through with some pics, if you want a more in depth idea. You can also find all the items listed there as well.

The items are:

Check out Zam for more info on the items (all links direct you over to them). Also, K9KCECXM3EK for a Treeble Cut-Out Mask, if you haven't used this one then might want to get it!

Looking through the mirror.. Everquest 2

*Looks in the mirror to adjust her armor*

One more day to Halloween! Tomorrow I'm taking my son trick or treating, I hope the weather is nice. For now I'm trying to pack in all the Halloween fun I can in EQ2 and Free Realms during my playtime. Though Free Realms is more limited by going the way of the daily.

The way of the daily is something that has started grating on my nerves, when it comes to once a year events. What's so bad about it, you ask? Trick or treating only when the timer is up, so you can do it again, because you keep getting candy you don't need? Doing that Halloween instance once a day, trying to get the items you keep losing rolls on? Getting into a daily group only to find out that some of the members already did it, being greedy, and now you have one less chance at a drop you need or want. I want to get all I can out of those instances, not wait until next year to complete an achievement.

I'm not missing any of that bull when I play Everquest 2. I can happily solo my Halloween instances, run them back to back if I like. No timers locking me out until the next day. I can run it with a friend even if they already did it. I can trick or treat whenever I feel like it. As long as I have the time to permit it, I can get everything I want during the event. I like that, a lot.

Last night I decided to take my little fury through some of the instances. I did the hedge event which was pretty easy, however I need some gear upgrades and ran out of mana in the Haunted Mansion. I don't know, I just can't go wrong with the Shadow Knight. It's just so much fun, good dps and durability. Some good tricks like evac and feign death. She can keep her health up and do decent dps at the same time. Multiple mobs? No problem, this class shines in that area. For someone who solos a lot, it's a really strong character. I always seem to gravitate back to her. So I've decided to keep leveling her up. Speaking of gear upgrades, she is starting to really need some.

I finally got my last piece of armor for the Halloween set. Looks pretty spiffy. I have so many pieces for alts I may go farm a few missing pieces for them to use them as well. I've gotten about four levels and three aa's since I've been back. It seems like the xp is flying by. I'm having fun at the same time. I decided to work on decorating my house. It's not as flashy as some I've seen, but it's nice I like to think, cozy. I'll have to post some pics of it this weekend, in my screen shots area. I love getting things for the house from the event too. I have some spooky fog I want to try out later on, see how it looks in the basement room.

In case you were wondering, today's title 'Looking through the mirror', is just a reference to one of the events in Everquest 2, the Haunted Mansion. It's a fun instance, in the final stage of it you see yourself come out of the mirror. Then you get to fight an elite version of yourself. I did a nice quick Harm Touch on her and my work was done. Not as tough as the real thing!  ;)

I've got a lot of things I need to get done today, so it's that time again, I must be off! I hope you are having a great time with all these fun events in whatever game you are playing! Let me know what you're playing, whats been fun for you this month! I love to hear from you, the reader. Have a safe and fun filled Halloween everyone!

Revisiting Everquest 2 (MMO)

Last night I took the plunge and jumped back over to Everquest 2 for something fun to do. I've not played in quite awhile, it was nice to still be in my guild, they helped me with several questions. Upon checking out my house I noticed I had an extra room! I forgot all about extra rooms being added on to housing. Very cool. I'm glad to be back, I've always had a fondness for this game. I know and enjoy the Everquest lore, so it's always a familiar place in Norrath.

I had all intentions of playing the Necro so I logged her in first, decided to check out the Halloween Event in the Loping Plains. She is only 32 so it was a bit freaky running around a zone much much higher than her. No problems getting there, pretty easy. However it just wasn't as easy going through the instance with her. I died, gave it another shot then logged her out. Maybe I just need to get use to playing her her again.

I thought, well I may as well try the Shadow Knight out. Much easier, more laid back. Went through the mobs like a hot knife through butter. I ended up doing all the Halloween events with her, having a blast. A very nice time for me to pick her back up, got almost two levels doing those events. I almost have a full "cosmetic" set from the event. A black plate looking set. I just need the legs. Many thanks to Zam for their complete holiday walk through. Tipped me off on a bunch to do! Some of those would have taken much longer without it.

I got a couple of really sweet looking capes, some neat stuff for my house. I loved the trick or treating, got a black "bandit" looking mask, cat mask and skeleton mask from that and another quest so far. So yeah, I'm very glad I picked it back up. I think I may grab the latest expansion next week also.

So today I think I'll work on some more Halloween stuff and redecorate my house since I have an extra room! Sure there are some things that I don't like about EQ2 but overall it's a fantastic game. I've been playing S.O.E. Games for almost a decade now, I suppose just I really like the direction they went with the Everquest games, also Free Realms. Plus I get to be a Dark Elf again, my first character in the original was a Dark Elf. A decade later I'm still running through Neriak! <3 Neriak.

Last night in Free Realms I logged in to do a few things for a bit, I got an octo hat from the daily spin. It's too cute. I'm sure I'll be logging back into WoW here and there, not as much right now.

Till next time!

Boredom is setting in... WoW, EQ2 and FR (MMO)

It's been awhile since I checked out MMO-Champion, I thought I'd peek in and see whats cookin'. It seems like a lot of changes are in the works for WoW. Nothing new there! The ever changing World of Warcraft, right? So, I found some interesting things happening on the PTR 3.3.

A few things caught my eye. Lay on Hands can no longer be cast on yourself.W-w-hat?! I actually only ever really need use this on the tank if the sh*t hits the fan. I suppose it's no big deal, but seriously, why now, after five years?! That is something I find myself asking a lot this year about all the changes in WoW. Some for the better some not so much. A new tutorial has been added, after five years I think everyone knows how to play! I jest! Cool I suppose for those who are late in joining the game. Daily Heroic and normal dungeon quests have been removed. These quests have been replaced with weekly raid quests. I don't know if I like this idea or not.

Dungeon System: This feature has replaced the Looking For Group tool and provides all-new dungeon party creation functionality. Players can join as individuals, as a full group, or a partial group to look for additional party members.Groups using this tool will be able to teleport directly to the selected instance. Upon leaving the instance, players will be returned to their original location. If any party member needs to temporarily leave the instance for reagents or repairs, they will have the option to teleport back to the instance. Players can choose the Random Dungeon option. Sounds pretty nice.

Hallow's End Achievement. "Since getting all of the masks is just another achievement and not something required for the meta-achievement, we are okay with this remaining as-is. Yes, it may take a couple years of doing the Hallow's End events to get it done but that just puts it along side things like Bloody Rare and Frostbitten." A blue quote there. Those masks are currently what will hold me back from the ahievement. I have a few more things I need to do, until I get closer to getting all the masks, I'm not going to bother.

Just a few things I thought were worth mention, tons of info on MMO-Champ, check it out if you haven't. Currently my connection is a P.O.S. I have trouble doing 25 mans because of it. This is nothing new. I've tried to stick to heroics and 10 mans because of it. Yesterday I figured I'd give it another shot and try Ony 25. Bad idea. I kept getting disconnected. So it's stick to 10 mans till I move, or wait to do much of anything till I move. I seem to suffer worse in WoW, when my connection gets crummy, than any other game. It really is affected big time, where in other games it's not such a big deal.

Really this time I am just playing it cool with WoW. Boredom is really starting to settle in again. I'll just take it slow. I have a raid for tonight, I don't even know if I want to bother with, if I'm going to disconnect on and off. Some nights it's great. Thing is I never know when it will or won't be. Anyhow, I dunno maybe I really should just quit till the expansion comes out?

I was reading the EQ2 forums last night and saw people there complaining about being bored. WTH people! You get an expansion every year!!! Class changes? O-M-G, try having your class balanced around PvP when you are mostly PvE. I'm not making fun, really. I know things do get boring in MMOs, look at me the big game hopper. I'm going to give this game another chance. I've decided it's as good a time as any to jump back in and try to catch up. I always liked this game a lot. I had a really nice guild, hope I still do. I've been gone for several months though. I don't know if I should pick up my 43 SK or my 32 necro.. bleh decisions. I don't really want to tank, might be easier than I thought to decide! Yes I'm still only a pup in this game. I do like a lot of things about though. So tonight I get to patch... yay!

I've not had a chance to hop into Free Realms the past two days. I don't plan on leaving this one anytime soon. It may take a backseat to catching up in EQ2 though. I'll see how things go. Do you get to where you think you want to play something but decide you really don't? I think WoW and I will always have a love-hate relationship ;)

Till next time peeps! Thanks for reading!

Gaming ups and downs.. (MMO)

Yesterday I got around to doing a few things in WoW. I finally killed Onyxia. I decided to join a pug and give it a go, it went pretty well for the most part. No phat loot for me though, it was fun. I also joined a guild. Well sort of, two guilds. One on the Paladin and one on the Priest. I just want a laid back guild to do things with a few times a week, so I want to get a feel for both. I will have to see how they are, so far the only thing I have gotten out of either was a flop Onyxia raid today. They invite me, fail to tell me it was the last try. Gee thanks! No big deal, just sort of irritating, quit what I was doing just to go get a repair bill. I may just have to suck it up and apply for a decent guild if I want to get anything done. I'm so lazy..

Currently I'm trying to work more on a holy set. I've had to change out a lot of hit gear, there's still more I need to get changed out. It's coming along today, I switched out some old stuff in the bank, mostly so I can enchant and gem for the specific spec. Mana regen is something that is harder to get  a feeling for with the Priest after playing the Paladin. I never run out of mana on the Paladin..Ever. However I really want to do more healing with the priest for a change. Plus I can always swtich back to Shadow, which is a ton of fun.

I just get tired of... a stat for this spec and a stat for that spec, gems for this spec, enchants with that spec.. on and on. Dual spec dps/heals is pointless as a Priest or Paladin w/o two sets of gear.  I like to full both roles. However I think after I get the priest a full holy set I'm not worrying anymore on anything else for shadow. It eats me alive some days, all the min/max in this game. I am enjoying the game still but sometimes it's time to log out and not worry about it for the rest of the day/night.

I got a bit annoyed trying to work on a Holy set last night I ended up logging off and playing Free Realms for a bit. I had enough of the gripes of pugs, trade spam full of who ninja'd what. I just enjoy doing my own thing not worrying about this person or that, chatter in guild chat some. Are you saved to the instance? Are you going to ninja loot those items? None of that here. Just laid back playing this class or that on one character. Questing for gear, tickets or money. I worry about what will be left to do once I max out my professions but that is still a ways off.

I worked on getting my Pet Trainer to 10 last night. Luckily I have three pets I can work on and not worry about 'renting' one to train up. The pets learn how to to cute tricks like sitting up, boxing, or dancing. Some of the jobs I dislike. I don't like racing that much, it's boring, demolition can get old quickly too. I got around to trying the Soccer Star.. boring. I ended up with a cramp in my hand. I broke my left hand years ago and pounding the wasd keys to move around quickly aggravated it. So there are three jobs I will never mess with.

I really wish S.O.E. would stop implementing these types of boring jobs. I don't like some of the fast paced ones.  I like to relax and play, not spam keys and break my 'neck' trying to level up. The Soccer and Racing have gotten the most attention. If they keep going in that direction, meh, lets not get started on that.

Yes I'm full of complaints today. I don't know.. I just have so much going on some days I don't want to be bothered with the min max bs, or breakneck games. I just want to relax and get things done. Maybe it's just me, do you ever feel this way? Or do you enjoy a competitive feeling all the time?

Whats in it for you? Is that cool new MMO worth it?

After.. (yes I know it should be before), playing a game for a time to see if I enjoy it...

I ask myself the first of several questions: In the end what is there for me once I finish all these levels? That's something that I really weigh out upon deciding if a game has lasting power for me. I'm not one to keep leveling up a zillion alts.. I passed that phase years ago.

Is there high end content? After picking up at least two big sellers out this fall I just jumped in thinking about how fresh and new and fun they were! However after reading and playing, I found out there really wasn't much at all at the top. Why bother getting to the top if there is really nothing there? I will admit I do play one game like this Free Realms.. however that is my secondary game when I want to blow off steam. I don't expect Free Realms to have high end content, after all it is aimed towards kids. If it did.. well I may have to reconsider playing it more!

Games such as Champions felt sort of flat. Sure you get to the top, what really are the rewards? I must admit Cryptic is hard at work adding in more content for players. But for now? Those thoughts kept me from really caring how far I got in the game durring the first month. It was just something fun to mess around on, after finding out there really was no end game.

So, I've left Aion.. I am sure one day I may return. If they get things in order and westernize it more ect..ect.. Sure I'd give it another shot. Right now I don't want to 'putt' around in the Abyss at high end. Boring.. same ol same ol.. Come on give us some instances. I don't want to PvP all the time, I could do that in WoW. I think NCSoft is making some dire mistakes right off the bat in many areas. Perhaps they think if this falls short everyone will be back for round two with Guild Wars2. Who knows?

These are two examples, the list could go on, last year there were some really rough releases but I'm not going to go there. It really depends what you as a gamer are looking for. Do you want PvE, PvP, crafting or just something to blow off steam? It's something you should look into when you decide if you should spend the time on the game, seriously it can amount to a lot of wasted time. Sometimes it's better to wait a month and see what the reactions are. I did that last year, this year I wanted to get my feet wet and see for myself.

I don't think some gaming companies have realized that to KEEP players you have to offer things to do after that climb to the top. I don't want to just hit the top to do it over again to keep playing the game. I would like to be able to advance in a game with people and on my own. The latter isn't always the case in many games.

The next question I ask myself is: What cool things are in it for me? Mounts, Pets, easy travel, achievements or titles? This is a sure way to keep people interested. People like to show off all that fancy gear, that's a given, they also like to show off special pets and mounts. Titles make players feel more unique. These tie the player to the character. Games that offer such things as 'Appearance tabs' really are making a step in the right directions, as well as housing. I use to think housing was silly, I've come to really love player housing. Everquest II did well with all of these. I often wonder why I'm not playing it.. hrmm maybe next month ;)

And the final Question:  (I could keep asking them, but I'd never decide if I should play or not!) How is support and community interaction with this game? You can tell a lot about a game simply from reading the games website news and forums. Is the company in touch with the community? If not then you might want to be wary. You don't want to pay for a neglected game, it only causes heartache in the end.

Even popping into the forums you can tell a bit. Sure WoW has it's amount of rants but really it's not all rants about the same thing, mostly trolling. Sometimes you just need to understand the difference. I'm not saying the game doesn't have issues. I was browsing a game's forums today and it was full of complaining about issues and it wasn't just one or two, it was pages upon pages. Cries for help, falling upon deaf ears. This right here is a red flag. You can probably guess what game I'm talking about.

Does the game offer in-game support? This never was a question until Aion came out! A subscription game with out in-game support, outrageous! More like lazy. Sure.. yeah, we know it's in the works just like everything else. However some games such as DDO only offer this type of support to paying members, even if you spend the money on the cash shop. So watch out, you might need support you can't find for days. A huge hassle.

So those are just some thoughts. I do not regret any games I have tried, as that's my thing, playing games, trying new ones out. For those that are not big on hopping around and are looking for something they can stick with I hope those tips might come in handy!

Safe adventures in whatever you play!

Some thoughts..WoW, EQ, FR & Aion (MMO)

Today it's rainy here in Houston, a good day to stay in. Browsing my favorite sites, reading up to see if anything is new on the games I keep tabs on. Seems a pretty slow day, a good day to mull over some things.

Everquest has a listing up for holiday events which sound pretty fun. It seems a long way from the events I remember in my earlier years of playing. Many nice additions.  Aion of course has the community address up from the 23rd, I seem to have missed the "Eye on Community" news article. I suppose NCSoft is trying to make up for lost time with this new weekly posting. I suppose we really can't rag too hard on Aion, it is what it is.

I'm still bouncing back from Free Realms to WoW. In the many months I've been writing I've been going through a sort of burn out on a lot of games. Trying to find what suits me best, I had tried many games out there, not all. Now I've tried just about every MMO out there. There are a few exceptions. Some I'm just not interested in and some my wallet cries out NO to ;) But it seems in my travels across many games I am at home with WoW the most. I do have my issues and get tired of the humdrum of the game, it just offers the most bang for the buck. And... as the sidekick game Free Realms.

I think I will attempt to find another guild to do more with in WoW. My husband has stayed in the guild we were in at the beginning of the current expansion. I moved on due to personal reasons. I wasn't asked to do certain raids because I was a static healer (paladin..)... wtf.! Or I was not taken because so and so's wife wanted to go. I took a small break and when I came back, I was told there wasn't room for me to go on any raids. So I decided to move on. He still gets heroics and raid invites being Mr.dps.. and I have to strive harder with my Shadow Priest and Holy Paladin to get anything done lately. I think I'm just lazy anymore. The hermit in WoW lol.

The guy has all the luck with getting into runs! I am glad though, to see him catching up after his long break. I have a low threshold for bs, I'm opinionated, I like things organized. I suppose maybe in my EQ raiding days I took things seriously and that has carried over. I suppose my heart just wasn't in it for awhile. I think I'll work on a holy set for my priest so I can do more on her much like I can on the paladin. Oh... and last night she got the 'punkin' pet from the HH!

So Free Realms is a nice balance to keep me having fun when I have had it with Wow heh. I do wish there was more to do once everything has been maxed out, so I am trying to take it slow. I hope to see player housing before long. Really you can't beat the simplicity and fun FR offers, a good game to have none the less. I hit 20 on my Postman prof a day or two ago and got my new snazzy speedy Postman collection shoes! A kind guildie helped me with some items with it which was really nice. I am glad to be able to zip around a bit faster now!

Of course as I am a creature of habit, I will still be popping over to other games, but I think I am settled back down for the most part enough to stick to these once again and try, at least in WoW, to get into doing more. It's easier in FR to just log in and get things done.. WoW is another story..

Till next time peeps!

Tricks or Treats.. WoW Free Realms & Aion (MMO)

Back to the ol' grind in Wow. Last night I decided to log in and help the 'ol' man' do some heroics. It's kind of hard to find a tank and or healer late night on Silvermoon sometimes. My Priest is shadow so I end up playing the Paladin more in heroics lately. I'm trying to get some of the Achievements down for the title. Probably end up only getting it on one.. too much to do. I have a friend who is trying to get it on all hrmm.. six (I think, lost count), of his 80's. Too much work for me heh. I've not gotten anything really cool besides the Broom from the HH. Always a nice treat to get a broom to zoom on!

I noticed last night, upon using the broom, it no longer has a duration (of 14 days). If you look at my screen shot above, you can see it now says it is usable during Hallows End. I like that much better! So I still have a few days left to try to get some of the other stuff I want. Other than that I've only had time to do the holiday events in Free Realms. I've not got much else new but it's been fun, I've gotten a ton of nifty items so far. Lots of treats for all!

Today I was busy trying to get my son a Halloween Costume put together since he wants to be a pirate. He wants to look like Jack Sparrow. So we went from shop to shop trying to put together a good one. There is a Halloween Express near us, we spent way too much time in there!

Aion's Halloween Event is out as of today. I wanted to hear more about it before I decided to check it out or not. From reading the forums I think I may not. Players have mentioned there being no decorations, quests or even a great hunt.. The announcement mentioned undead invading, a great hunt and treats. The only thing that seems to be true is the candy treats.

I suppose there could be more.. I don't expect NCSoft to give us any answers with the track record they have on communication. Maybe next year they will put more effort into the event. People have come to expect big holiday events in games. I am sure Aion will have a nice Christmas event simply because the work is already there from the Eastern game.Sorry Aion players, seems more of a trick than a treat..

Now I'm off to try to do some Halloween quests before it gets too late!
Till next time-

I've 'Gone Postal'!.. Free Realms, WoW & Aion....

I've been having a nice time in Free Realms. I joined a guild, 'Gone Postal' they seem like a real nice bunch. Yesterday I received my members pack which had a bunch of goodies in it such as the Skull Lantern, Pumpkin Paper Bag Mask, Chadty Outfit and some face paints. I was pretty happy to get those. I've been working on my Postman profession. I'm almost 18 now, it's pretty fun. Everytime my husband walks past me he sees me playing the mail mini game and asks why I am playing "Peggle" lol.

I'm still trying to decide whether or not I should reactivate Aion or WoW. Aion released an October Community Address. While it touched on topics that have been hot on many sites, their responce to the lack of communication was: "Many of you have asked us why we haven't spent more time communicating the specifics of our plans. The unfortunate truth is that the same people spamming chat channels and setting up bots are also reading our announcements. In order to keep the enemy in the dark, we cannot be too vocal about our plans to fight back." The enemy huh? How about worrying about the players over the 'enemy'?

Right now it looks like it will be WoW simply because my husband keeps asking me to play that with him. As bored as I can get I always have Free Realms and Runes of Magic.. ect. Many of my fun little games to keep me from being bored in my play time. Which seems to be less and less this week heh. I slept way too late this lovely Saturday because of my Headache last night. Anyhow I still want to try to get the Hallowed title on WoW so I hope I still have enough time this week.

My son was asking how full my HD was today.. I seriously need a bigger HD with all these games.. and it's got one gig free. Yikes.. I still have Ether Saga on there and Perfect World.. I may have to pop in those to see if I want to keep them on here. I think it's been a year since I played Perfect World, honestly.  So it looks like I have some housecleaning to do on my machine.

Till next time-

Word on the street... Champions, EQ, RoM.

Everything is always changing, additions being made. Games are always trying to make things more accessible to players. I never thought I'd see the day Everquest added race changes. One of the latest marketplace items is a race change scroll. I like the idea of  this option a lot. There are a couple of characters of mine I wouldn't mind changing the races of in the future when I pick the game back up.

There's also a lot of cool new things on the marketplace like a jack-o-lantern aura, bat on a string,  'The Haunted' title oh.. a cute little werewolf pet and a few more neat items! If I remember correctly today is the day Halloween begins in Norrath. *Gets homesick briefly*.. Anyhow you can read more about the spooky Everquest stuff here.

Champions Online is looking good! Cryptic really seems dedicated to keeping that game interesting. I'm very impressed. Tonight upon checking my email I saw I had some news from the Cryptic team stating, "From Friday, October 30th, until Monday, November 2nd, come play Champions Online ... for free!" I might just have to pop in to check out some of the changes and Bloodmoon. Play as a werewolf – or a hunter – during the Bite event. Join four friends in an all-out struggle for survival in the Zombie Apocalypse PvP... sounds like a lot of fun.

I received a buddy key for a 14 day trial, which was pretty cool since I don't think I've seen any trials out. I have one if anyone would like to email me, first come first serve. None of my friends or family are interested in playing.. so have at it. It looks like more content is incoming for Champions. A new Nemesis Lair in November and in December the Winter King event.. Exciting! You can find more about what is going on this month in Millennium city here.

Massively.com had a really cool contest today for a Runes of Magic Bat 'Witch Hat'. I couldn't help but try for one since that is one of the games I'm currently messing around in. There were only 1000 keys. Thanks Massively!

... And I just closed my browser forgetting I had this going while tabbing out for a few... another headache tonight. Check out some of my screen shots, as that link is the cause of this massive headache hehe. So I suppose that is a sign I should wrap this up heh.

I'm off to relax and watch a creepy movie with the hubby!

Wizard 101 and Free Realms: Too much fun!

Last night I took another look at Wizard 101. It's really been a long time since I played it, I've been hearing a lot of good things about it. It's had a lot of changes since I last played, so I wanted to give it another go around. Plus it seems the biggest competition for Free Realms, I figured I may as well see which one I like better. I ended up making another character since the ones I had made ages ago didn't appeal to me. I went with a necro type character.

It's really a cute game. When I actually sat down to play it my brothers had stopped by to hang out for awhile, one ended up watching me play. We had fun laughing every time I ran into a battle by accident. While I don't like card games very much in these types of games, this one didn't actually feel like the norm. It was pretty awesome, there are some very cool moves when you attack. I also liked that you could join a battle that was starting or already started. This game has some good music and really nice voice acting to boot. Player housing and mounts are just icing on the cake. I might keep messing around with this game, on the side.

It really is a very good game. A few things I didn't like were the controls, maybe those could be changed around.. not sure. Also how you have to find a wisp (which I only saw the city), or play mini games to get health and mana back. I'd just rather it regen out of combat. Not anything really bad though. This game has a real unique feel.

While my brother was watching I decided to show him my Free Realms character. His computer lags with the game, too bad to play it. He's been wanting to see some of the Halloween stuff. So he ended up playing the racing games a few times, which he really liked, and was impressed with how fun it was. He liked this one out of the two I showed him because of all you can do in Free Realms.

Thats is what I've been having fun with, all the things you can do. Bored fighting monsters? Go deliver some mail, play tower defense (hard makes me want to barf... too many rounds to get my snowhill suit) or train your pet. I still need to find a guild. I'm currently leveling up the mail job. I want those fast boots you get from the higher up quest!

My Aion account expired yesterday. Oh noes! It's either this or WoW I will reactivate. I still have not decided, so I'm kind of waiting around a few days to make up my mind. For now I'll just keep playing Free Realms as it has my interest. The Halloween event is probably one of the best I've seen in any game. There are a lot of good ones out there though. Tough choices! That is about it on what I've been playing.

Till next time!

What are you playing this October? (MMO)

Maybe if you are like me you end up playing the game that has the best Halloween events. There's quite a lot of fun events out this fall but when the event dailies are over for the day the game still has to be fun. So I've been doing a little hopping around playing this and that. Do you tend to do the same? Or are you a one game type of person? I've been messing around with several games.

I decided to revisit Runes of magic. It's pretty cool for a free MMORPG. I couldn't find any Halloween Events. I suppose I need to look harder. I decided to try out one of the new classes. The Druid was pretty fun. I didn't get very high, slowly working on it when I'm bored. I like that this game has housing. I definitely want to check that aspect out when I get the time and levels. I probably will not play this one too seriously for now, simply because I have too many others I am interested in currently.

Free Realms has really been a blast this month. Last night I did the member Halloween quests and got three costumes, bixie, ninja and a floren. I also got a doggy mask which was cute. It looked like a pug (it was a Gizmo mask!), too cute! I ended up getting the Halloween Pet since it looked like my dog Gizmo, I even named him Gizmo hehe. I also wanted to grab a spiffy new costume, the Vampire Countess Outfit. Too cool. They really did a great job on the costumes. So much to do for Halloween in this game. They just need housing and ponies to keep me forever ;)  It's nice to be able to log in and do the event dailies without worrying about if this or that person has done it. The instance for the event was pretty fun to do solo.

I'm a bit tired of getting dress shoes in the daily spins. How many have you acquired so far? I think I'm up to around six pair. It's still nice to get two spins a day! There is always so much to do, I'm enjoying this game a lot again. I might look for a little guild to join to have some people to do some things with or just talk to. It can get kind of lonely without one in any game. Especially if you don't have anyone you know playing.

I'm still leveling up in Aion on my Cleric slowly. I've gotten a few real nice groups lately. Sometimes when I log in I get tells right off the bat for groups which always tickles me. Feels like the old days in Everquest. I hope the holiday event is a good one. I keep seeing mention of special treats.. please don't base an event on treats. Sure Holiday treats are cool but every game always ends up giving way too many. I want more nifty cool Halloween things! Anyhow it's still pretty easy to find groups at any time I end up playing. Late night or whenever, I like that.

My World of Warcraft account expired after the first day of the holiday event. I'm sure I'll reactivate but for now I'm just kind of jaded by the people being lame over the HH daily. It seems every group I get someone is trying to jump in without a summon. They did the daily with five summons, I suppose they think I don't want five as well? Still it has some cool things to do.

That about wraps it up. Hope you are having as much fun as I am with the Holiday events! Till' next time!

Do zombies eat popcorn with their fingers?
No, they eat the fingers separately...

Still in transit!

I'm still in the process of doing a few things on the site. I'm going for a different look. Let me know if you like it! Things may change around in the next couple of days, I have to add a lot of code back in still, some things are missing. So if you pop in and things look kind of weird... just bear with me!

In the meantime here's the coolest doggie in the world, Gizmo. I just had to post a pic of him, he is just too cute.

Aion one month mark! Will YOU renew?

So it's around that time, Aion has been out about a month now, the free month is about up for me. Will you renew your account? I've been sort of sitting on the fence about this for a week now. Right now I think Aion is a pretty good game. However if you've visited my blog before, then you know I have some issues with NCSoft in general.

Just a mention of a few issues would be: Travel, limited flight, lack of getting places quickly. Flight paths are ironic. Animations interfering with casting, attacking and even movement. Poor support and communication from NCSoft as a whole. The Abyss, this is going to be very messy for those lower levels when the game becomes top heavy.

I'm still not feeling NCSoft is in touch with the community as it should be, even after a month. I'm sorry but Twitter isn't cutting it. Why should I go to twitter for information when the game has it's own website and forums? Really.. Twitter shouldn't be the main means of communication. Which comes to the second complaint I've had. The website and forums feel neglected. I was very happy to see a Halloween Event announcement, I almost fell out of my chair when I even saw that listed.

NCSoft has always been kind of meh on the support in some of the games I've played. Many of the games are filled with gold spammers and botters. It's been a problem for a long time with many of their games... If it wasn't tackled in those games as it should have been then why would they start now? See where I am getting? I just don't want to invest in a game that is going to go from being such a big hit to being another game that has poor: support, communication with players. And... honestly will it ever be Westernized enough for us? That is something I have touched on quite a bit, yes, it still is a question I am weighing. It is a good solid game I hope NCSoft realizes how many people want to see some action taken to make this game all it can be here in NA.

I'm not saying Aion is a neglected horrible game. It's really a great game. NCSoft has made some changes for the better. It is moving in a better direction, but slowly. In a fast paced MMO world a game can be knocked out of the running rather quickly when players feel it's going down the tubes or not offering enough. When the next big hit comes out will the game still have a decent player base?

I will probably continue to play and see how it goes, for now I am still having fun. I suppose all we can do is wait and see how it goes. I've read a lot of thoughts on Aion, I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. The fonder of Curse.com recently published a letter to NCSoft, you can check it out here. It touched on some very good points.

Let me say this in closing, the game is truly a great game. It's fun, it has depth, PvP and PvE. Good solid classes. It's a work of art, truly lovely. I am probably one of the biggest Aion fans. I just want to see this game succeed. While there is much to be worked it has a good solid foundation.

Will you be playing another month? Do you have any issues that bother you about playing another month? Or will you give it some more time to even out? I still have a few more days to decide!

Till next time Daevas!

Free Realms a real TREAT! More Spooky Goodness for EVERYONE!

Being the Halloween Event Freak I am, I've been logging into Free Realms each day to do the trick or treating. Today for logging in three days in a row I got a few extra spins on the wheel. I was pretty disheartened to win three pairs of dress shoes.. So I did the trick or treating quest and got a special item! It was the Chatty Squirrel Costume! I was pretty happy to sport this cute suit. Very happy that even the free players got in on cool neat items. The cash shop costumes and Halloween items are very neat. Makes you want to get them all!

There is also an event this week:
Wednesday October, 21st 4pm PDT – 6pm PDT (11pm – 1am UTC) Blackspore, Teleport to Bone Bog Cemetery Server 1

This really is a fun event indeed. One not to miss, everyone can enjoy. I love games that offer fun events, especially the ones that last the longest! So if you haven't checked this one out and you are looking for some Halloween MMO fun for free! If your willing to go the extra mile and add a subscription it's even better.

Why don't skeletons ever go out on the town?
Because they don't have any body to go out with...

Hallow's End, WoW! Are you having fun yet?

So now I'm pretty much settled in here on the new site! I still have some work ahead of me. However I did have some time to log into WoW and check out Hallow's End briefly. For the most part it was pretty fun. The Headless Horseman dropped upgraded items from past events. I didn't actually get anything I wanted, I did get a nifty broom mount that has the set duration, think it is 14 days.

My first group with the Priest was pretty much an example of how rude players are during these events. Much like Brewfest the hubby and I have decided to make our own groups. The first one we did with our Priest and Rogue a group invited us while they had already done the HH daily. So of course they didn't tell us and laughed and sent me a tell saying "PWNED". Typical Are we having fun yet?..

Next round our Paladins. This group was much better, we had someone mad we removed them for not having a summon. Seriously though if you don't have a summon don't waste peoples time. Other than that it went very well, a few of us had the daily twice for it being the first time on these characters. I think this group summoned him eight times. Nothing great in loot, the Mr. won the pumpkin pet which was nice.

It's pretty much the same as last year and the year before. Several dailys, an instance and trick or treating every hour at the end. Plus the nifty achievement with the reward of title "The Hallowed". I don't know if I will finish that one this year, I will be working on it as I can.

Are you having fun with Hallow's End this year? I can see it being a headache like Brewfest.. I guess that's part of how it goes. Other than people trying to get one over on you for a spot in your group without a summon, it can be a really fun event. I think there shouold be a warning to group members joining if someone doesn't have the summon (daily) for the HH. It just takes away from the event when people lie about having this. It's a set duration event, everyone wants an equal chance at the items they want. I suppose some want more than others..

What's the one thing you can't give the Headless Horseman?
A headache! -kaozz

Aion Harvest Revel!

It looks like Aion is going to make me one happy girlie this year! Harvest Revel will be October 25th through October 31. Halloween in Aion!

From the official site:

"During the fall harvest, from time immemorial, the people of Atreia have celebrated the bounty of the land. Years ago, the joy of the annual revels was troubled by an eclipse - a peculiar and magical eclipse that brought darkness to Asmodae and Elysea. Ever since, for days during Harvest Revel, the sky goes dark and the peoples of Atreia join the hunt.

Asmodians find soothing peace during the dark days of the Harvest Revel. They celebrate by racing after the Wild Kurthanir hunt leader during the Wild Hunt and cooking special traditional dishes.

Elyos endure the dark days because during them the dead of Elysea are restless. Undead creatures rise from the grave every few hours, pulled back into a semblance of life by the power of the eclipse. Elyos must join roving Dark Night bands to hunt and destroy the undead before they invade Elyos villages."

You can check it out here. Very exciting, glad Aion pulled through with an event so close to it's NA release!

See you in Atreia!

Free Realms is SPOOKTACULAR!

I decided to revisit FR and check out the holiday activities. I'm the biggest sucker for this time of year, any Halloween event is sure to be total bliss for me. I haven't logged in for awhile, it was nice. I will definitely be logging in for the whole duration of the holiday event!

So upon logging in I forgot I was no longer a member. I couldn't accept the Halloween Quest, it kept telling me I needed to be a member. After a few minutes I figured out I had 20/10 quests heh. So once I dropped the extras I was able to grab the quest. /Facepalm on my behalf there. The quests were fun, cool rewards. However I wasn't able to finish the chain, not being a member any longer.

*Dances to Thriller* there's even a boom box that plays the Thriller beat. Everyone around it of course does the dance!

Yummy Halloween Goodness for all! Lots of fun activities, spooky decorations, a fun mini game and trick-or-treating. I won a mask and a couple trick-or-treat pails. Before this event is over I may re-sub because as I mentioned, deeper in the event quest chain it's members only. :( Yes I am the biggest sucker for events.. Even if I don't.. it's still fun to participate in!

The Pumpkin Prince terrorizes several towns, where you scare the bad guys and collect ectoplasmic goo for a quest. There are chances every day to win things from the quests and two Halloween wheel spins a day to win items. Very cool stuff indeed. The cash shop of course offers some drool worthy holiday items.

In every S.O.E. Game I have played the events are top notch, this one was no exception, well done! So don't miss this event, it's one worth dropping in for.

Links to check out for the event:
FR Forum info on the holiday activities.
Zam Wiki, quest help, listings, all you need to help you get started!
Also FR on Wordpress with some info on the event.
MMORPG.com has the FR developers blog up with many costume pics.
Last but not least, the official website news page. Keep checking in there to find listings for community events through out this month! The event is scheduled to run October 14 through November 11.

What makes Aion fun for YOU?

I can't exactly say why I find Aion so fun. I just have a real enjoyable time playing. I know.. I do complain about Aion and NCSoft but when it comes down to it I still think it's a good solid game for the most part. I just want to see the game do well.

In most games I try, I can tell how long it is going to last for me from around 10-20. I start getting bored, log in less and less if it's not something I really think I will stick with. However with Aion I'm still logging in ready for the next round of quests, group or whatever adventure comes my way.

So I hit 18 with my Cleric last night. I'm a bit behind from starting over a few times. I've joined a few groups, it's always pretty easy as a Cleric to find one. Kind of reminds me of old Everquest in that aspect. People so far are pretty fair with rolling on loot. I've made a few friends and joined another guild that is a bit more active.

Grouping in Aion is pretty fun. There is the holy trinity Tank, Healer, Dps.. with the CC classes to boot. Having a class that can CC (Crowd Control), a mob makes things easier, especially on the healer. Much like marking mobs in WoW, you can in this game also. Handy things like 1, 2, 3, and Zzz for the CC mobs. You mark the mobs and those go over the head to let group members know which order to attack, which are going to be cc'd.

Aion0601

Healing so far is fun. It's old school. No add on for this game.. so it's not easy mode as my WoW healers using HealBot. I am enjoying the role of the healer again. Sometimes groups take on more than we can handle and this results in death and a run back. I find this is often a time when people drop groups. It can be disheartening to run back but it's not the worst thing.

For now there's still plenty of quests, group xp has been decent. I try to do a group or two a day to keep things interesting. I still have till Thursday till my account runs out, I suppose I will choose then if I want to keep playing. As of now I really can't say there is another game that has me so interested. I can't say why.. I just like Aion a lot right now. In a few levels I could have my behind handed to me in PvP constantly and that could all change. I suppose I will have to wait and see.

I've found this to be a more social game while leveling. I suppose it is also due to the population being high currently. Group, make friends, you will be surprised at how you might make a friend joining up and helping someone out from time to time. I've had to make myself be more social and really it's worth it. It makes the game more enjoyable to log in and have friends to talk to or group with. I'm not saying you should group all the time. Just don't pass up the chance to make a new friend!

Some things I have learned so far about makin' teh monies. Gather everything you see. I stop at most 'nodes' (currently I don't have any professions), I sell everything in stacks and really make good money off this. Even if it makes my journey a little bit longer, it is well worth the money. Even that Iron Ore you see everywhere sells good. Sell everything. Loot everything, sell the trash to the vendors. Greens, whites and materials go very quickly on the broker. Manastones are hot sellers. Check on prices, Physical Crit and a few others sell for quite a lot. Make sure you are selling your items for more than the vendor will give you! I notice a lot of people on the broker don't do this. Don't ever not sell and leave loot on the mobs. That trash loot sells very well. It all adds up. Make an extra trip to the vendors!

I've also learned not to upgrade every little piece of gear on the trip to level 20. Often items in the teens will be sold for as much as items in the 20's, don't waste your money on minor upgrades till then. It isn't going to make the biggest deal. Save it for when it starts to matter.

Aion0608

Yesterday I noticed there was a survey. I clicked on it and it was a gift. Five Lodas Amulets. These give you 20% xp for one hour, a nine hour cool down. These were given as a token of appreciation for dedication to Aion through the long wait queues.. And the recent updated added an improved spam filter! Very nice, a step in the right direction! +1 for NCSoft!

What makes Aion fun for you? Maybe it's just fresh and new. It's definitely not perfect but it's good. It is a nice change of pace. So that is what I've been up to lately in Aion.

Till next time peeps!

Fun Com's The Secret World.. Rockerfellers, Mayan Calendar and Conspiricy Theories?!..

I've read very little about Fun Com's new game The Secret World. I decided to try for entry to beta today. The link for applying has been sitting in my box for awhile, yes I've been lazy.

So while wondering really what it's about. I had a feeling it would be more of a Post Apocalyptic sort of game, and right I was about that. This game seems it could be on the edge of controversial. Juicy! They didn't go there.. the Illuminati, the Rockerfellers and conspiracy theories...Oh yes they did! Even mention of the Mayan calendar. This indeed is a great source of 'lore'. I'm certainly interested. I'm thinking this game will be a hot topic.

Does it touch a little too close to home? Or is it a tad out there? If you know anything about the topics mentioned previously you may have mixed thoughts. Is this just a bunch of 'urban legends'? Indeed a very inciting idea for a game, a new venture and also a broad horizon for potential players.

This isn't the first game to venture in this area. The 1995 card game Illuminati (by Steve Jackson) has been through a lot of controversy. You can see an example here.

Here are a few images from the beta entry 'test' of the three societies in TSW:

Mad props to Fun Com, this looks like a very interesting game indeed! If anything it surely will catch much attention. it will be very interesting to see how this plays out.

If you haven't checked out the beta entry page, you can here. Just don't let 'they' know you did ;)

You can check out more about the game on Massively.
As well as the official site.

I must head off to my secret society meeting now..
Till next time -kaozz

EC Times: Whats new in the MMORPG world?

Two days until Hallows End in WoW, woo! I cannot wait! I'm still wondering if Aion will add anything this year. I will be sorely disappointed if not! I've added a few additions to the Fun Events in October list. For gamers who love all things Halloween!

It seems Warhammer has a lot of changes in the new patch. Good to see Mythic is still hard at work trying to keep players happy. Although I have not played in ages it is nice to know that the game is evolving. Definitely a big update for Warhammer, you can read the notes here.

While I don't play Wizard 101 currently, the game seems to get better and better. So many cool features keep getting added to this game, especially in today's patch.

EQplayers (Everquest) has listed "For our third and last Road to Underfoot event, protect Norrath and quell the threat of invading Cliknar soldiers with Breaking the Seal." You can check out more details about the event here.

Kind of old news but worth mentioning.. I always liked Archlord very much. I was sad to see it close down but as promised Webzen has taken the game over and it's back up! There has also been a new class added the Swashbuckler. Check out the official site for more information as well as any inquires of switching over older characters and credits.

It looks like Fun Com is offering chances to join beta in The Secret World. Currently there is a 'Test' to gain beta access. You can check that out here.

Very interesting stuff. Have fun with whatever adventure you may be on! -kaozz

WoW, Chillin' with Mr.Chilly!

Mr.Chilly is here! Isn't he adorable! If you haven't merged to a Battle.net account yet you can here. I was very happy to get this little cutie, you get one per character much like the anniversary bear, you can send it to another char to use also.

For those that haven't signed up yet here's the info from the World of Warcraft Community Site

"In preparation for the launch of these new features, on November 11, 2009 , all current World of Warcraft players will be required to merge their World of Warcraft accounts with a Battle.net account in order to log in to the game. As our way to say "thanks" for taking a moment to go through the process, existing World of Warcraft accounts that upgrade to Battle.net (including those that have already switched over) will receive a brand-new penguin in-game pet -- after you've merged, he'll be waiting for you in your in-game mailbox the next time you log in. Starting on November 11, all World of Warcraft players will need to log in to the game using a Battle.net username and password, and anyone who wishes to create a new World of Warcraft account will need to start with a Battle.net account."

I'll be chillin' with Mr.Chilly!

What makes an MMO good to YOU?

What makes you want to log into your favorite MMO? What makes it enjoyable for you? For me one of many things can be the people.

Lately I've been trying to stick to WoW even though I'm bored overall. I was thinking, what would make the game more enjoyable to me in it's current state? It seems my friends list grows a little 'dimmer' each time I log in. I've seen so many friends come and go (playing for five years this year..). It it wasn't for my husband, son and a few friends, I probably wouldn't even log in besides the holiday events. Really there's not many people I know, on anymore, to do anything with. Better yet logged on at the same time!

I miss having a good 'community' to be part of, a good guild and all that jazz. I've had a hard time picking a new guild out even though I've had several offers, either it's a silly application asking questions they don't need to know or just guilds that are not very active.. yeah always a reason. I was pretty burnt by the last one I suppose, just tired of the BS. It is clear that this is what makes this game more enjoyable. Because if you don't have a guild, you pug. Pugging isn't fun. :(

I have a friend from WoW that plays on my server in Aion which really is nice. I hope to make more friends as I start grouping more soon and joining a Legion. I keep hinting to my PvP loving husband Aion is right up his ally. Maybe he will try it one day. In the meantime I'm going to try to make the most of Aion while I'm playing it. It's fresh it's new, plenty of time to get rolling and catching up to others.

I do tend to solo a lot, but there is a big reason I like MMOs, I like that there are other people out there to play with. Do you feel the people you play with make the game for you?

Eye Candy: I'm On a Mount!

Warning: Viewer Discretion Advised ! Explicit Lyrics!

This is a hilarious parody of 'I'm on a Boat' (by The Lonely Island). Also on WCM, by toorc.. I usually don't post many videos up, however this one was pretty funny, I couldn't resist. I lost it on the "Hey GC.." Line. Props to these guys, this is full of win. View at your own risk and enjoy! ;)

Earth Eternal Open Beta, at a glance.

Today I thought I'd peek in at Earth Eternal's Open Beta. This seems like a very lighthearted, fun game. While it's not my type of game I thought it was simply adorable. Very kid friendly too. It's F2P, browser based, 22 choices of 'races' to pick from. The game offers four different classes. Knight, Rogue, Mage and Druid.

I can't give a real review on it as I just wanted to peek in today and see how it is. However I thought I'd give some thoughts on my first glance at it. The game offers many 'animals' to choose from which was neat, you can change the colors of fur/skin. Not a ton of options here but really how much do you need in a game like this? You also get to choose which clothes you start out in.

The game played smoothly, easy very easy to maneuver. It's really an easy game to hop in and play. There are many quests to do, lovely landscapes to see, decent UI and combat was pretty cool. The game had a 'magical' type feel maybe something out of your favorite story book, which added much charm.

I can easily see this one becoming a popular game especially for kids. It felt like being in the world of Richard Scarry, one of my favorite childhood authors ;) I'm not saying adults wouldn't like it either with that remark. It's definitely a niche game, charming and one of a kind in this aspect.

The game felt solid while playing it, quests were easy to figure out as well. It is browser based which makes it easy to access, there is also a full client available too. I only tried the browser client, if I was to play it I'd have to get the full client as the window is too small with the adverts on the side.

Definitely worth taking a look at. I'd rate t up there with the Free Realms type of game interest, solid and fun with out the pressure many other games can have.

Till Next time, !
