Lmao I love the D3 flow chart. It accurately sums up most of my game play. Except it needs a side flow of a never ending circle of frustration that represents most of my failed attempts to buy or sell something ~_~ Bids/sales constantly fail and time out! But for the most part I enjoy simply just clicking and slashing my way through the game. It is a welcome distraction from a stressful life as a mother, where I don't have to think too much in game right now lol.

From what I gather you just add the items to the plot as you gain them, dump them in and it is set up that way. The cheapest plot is 2.5g to buy and 25s a week, not too bad once you get into the teens really.

Well, it was. I have to go re-buy the plot this weekend. And I need to make some money. I have an entire house and contents in escrow and apparently the June vet reward is all the stuff to make another. Not sure how that works - I thought it was one house per account.

Couldn't agree more. The super-easy grouping with friends and the skill/rune system are both stellar examples of design - sort of like WoW before they ruined that game. I only wish they'd bring those systems into WoW, it'd make the game playable again...

It can take awhile to find your way around to some interesting places. I'll put together a list with some pics in a post this week. Will try to compile some of them tonight. The destination guide also showcases some fantastic spots and some faires/expos going on from time to time. If you start back let me know and I can show you around some places in-game. I spend a fair amount of time in these types of games and it is a nice deviation for me. I don't want all games to be like this but it is a relaxing change. I suppose it depends on what you're playing. I like the option there after so many years of not having things like that in my games.

I've played just over half the games on your list: FR, Vanguard, Glitch, Mabinogi, Wurm and EQ2. I like (or love) all of them except Glitch which I can't stand. It's the only MMO I've ever played that made my skin crawl. I felt like I needed a shower after playing it.

I went through quite a long period of thinking like you that I wanted MMOs with less or even no combat. After a couple or three years of thinking that, though, I slowly came to realize that isn't true. It can't be, because given the free choice of doing non-combat activities in the MMOs I play, most of which have plenty of them, I still spend something like 40-50% of my time fighting stuff.

My current thinking is that I want something like a 50-50 split between combat/non-combat activities, but that I want maybe 80% of the combat to be very easy. I spend an awful lot of time nowadays two-boxing in EQ2, mentoring my max level/aa Berserker down to much lower levels and just plowing through mobs like a whirlwind through a wheat field. Technically it's combat but it requires no thought or attention and is almost hypnotically relaxing. Real non-combat activities actually require a lot more thought and effort!

I agree! I am a housing nut, I wish more MMO games offered housing. It is nice to just relax and do something fun for a change, like decorating or even gathering things for your property. I'm a collector too so any game I can collect things in is fun for me too! Heading to check out your post :)

I do love non-combat casual MMOs or just non-combat activities. They just offer great alternative gameplay where you can make your own goals and not be forced to follow min maxing in order to remain competitive. Just relaxing fun. Give me an MMO with housing and I will immediately make it a day one purchase.

Once I'm less busy I'll probably get the game. Played D1 and D2 A LOT. I still remember back so many years ago when I played the D1 demo with my sister and we all screamed with the Butcher's "fresh meat!!" charge that killed our little warrior. Fun times :)
