Moving Along (EQ2, WoW)

This weekend I didn't get much xp in EQ2, I decided to move from Neriak. Neriak is a nice city but I wanted a different house. While I've contemplated betraying, I decided against it as I enjoy soloing and grouping as an Inquisitor too much. I still may betray, but not until 90, when I've gotten done with much of the soloing I wish to do. So instead of having one of those lovely houses in Qeynos or Halas I settled with one in Freeport. I don't love freeport, it's pretty chaotic and I've had my share of complaints about it but I do like the houses.

My house is taking shape pretty nicely, it's still a mess as most rooms are filled but waiting to be more fine tuned. It's kind of a task moving everything because some rooms were set up just so, now I have to take those items and make them fit in again. It's been fun and I had enough status saved up to buy one of the larger houses.

So later on this week I will try to get some pictures up, not just yet though. I actually have an outdoor garden, which is something I've wanted for awhile. So I am quite happy with that! I do plan on getting some more levels soon, I just hate having my house not set up yet!

A couple of friends were wanting to power level me some last night but I had to head off to bed so I need to catch up with them soon. I've fallen behind them in levels and it's pretty cool of them to help me catch up. I've made some really nice friends in EQ2 and it's such a nice change of pace from WoW.

Speaking of WoW.... I managed to get quite a few upgrades this weekend, for my Priest. I am loving being DPS again, the wait for dungeons is longer but it's a real good change for me. I do occasionally pop out to help heal if it is needed which is really handy. My DPS is pretty decent, Dire was using recount and I asked a few times to see what it was. The thing is, sometimes group make up can make a big difference in what your dps will be. Some classes offer better buffs to melee while others add a nice bonus to casters. So it's not always going to be the same. All in all I'm pretty happy with how it's been going. Even if I did pout a few times because I had some melee oriented groups ;)

Dire and I are both trying to save up for Mechano Hogs, he is just a few points, in engineering,  away from being able to make one- as well as being a miner, so that will help out a lot. I plan on going and doing some mining with the Rogue this week, while he is working, hehe. Money, I have noticed, comes a lot easier in WoW than in EQ2. It's not hard in either to make money but in WoW it flows a bit easier. It wasn't always that way though.

I also got (another) Black Mammoth mount, this time one for my Priest. I just had to have one on her! I didn't have much else to spend my shards on, I figured I may as well grab one. Being back at the top is nice in WoW, now if I can just get there in EQ2....

Till next time!

Small Vacation

Ahh.. It's good to back in Norrath. Takes in deep breaths of fresh Norrathian Air! I finally got around to reactivating EQ2, I was only gone for a few days! A three day vacation? I did manage to pop in- before the chance, to get my pretty armbands in the marketplace, was over. They are nice, though some complain about the colors. Hey it's free, plus they are a neat addition to my wardrobe!

Since being gone, I missed my house, my pets and my appearance tabs! I just missed wandering around in a huge world. While I do enjoy playing WoW also, it seems sometimes there isn't a lot for me to do as I only am wanting to play the Priest. I do heroic after heroic with dailies in between, so it is a nice change to hop onto EQ2 and work towards 90.

I know the game may change at 90, a different story altogether. In fact, I am sure it will. The thing is, it is nice to have housing and all the fluffy things I crave. Plus, there is still a lot unknown to me, a lot I still want to experience and acquire within the game. I don't know if Dire will keep playing, he has much less time to play these days, but even so I will remain playing both games, as long as I can. I am looking into doing schooling in the near future so things may change, until then I want to have fun!

Sometimes taking a few days away you get to realize the things you miss about a game, which is nice. I enjoy playing a variety of games and I miss things from them all, I suppose that is why I am playing two on a steady basis these days. I am playing a DPS (oriented) healer in both... The more things change, the more they stay the same heh.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! Let me know what you've been up to, I'm always curious! Dire has the weekend off, so it should be a nice fun weekend for us. CHAIN HEROIC RUNS.. woo! I know I'll have to squeeze in some EQ2 time at some point ;) And... if it's not too rainy I'd like to take my son to the park to play ball!

Cloud Nine

I've had sort of a busy week but last night I was able to finish up the quest chain for my cloud mount. I was pretty happy as I ended up with a decent set of gear in the process, level 67 and several AA to boot. The mount is slower than some of my others but it is so neat and you don't take fall damage on it, it sort of floats you down. Plus, how cool is that- riding around on a cloud!

I haven't had a ton of time to get stuff done between running around IRL and I was sick one night as well. On the nights I've been really tired I puttered around in my house changing a few things around. A friend gave me some really cool house items, one item in particular I've really wanted in order to finish my fish tank, Tapestry of the Steam Lord. I'll have to post some new pics. I will wait until the Freeport City Festival has come and I've had a chance to utilize those items in my house! I can't wait, it will be here on Saturday.

New Halas has been on test this week, although I haven't had time to peek at it I am excited about it. I will have to make an alt just for that. I've been wanting to make an alt on the good side so I may just have one start there. I don't know if I'll work on it here and there or wait until the inquisitor is 90. Most of the time, in games, I hop around on alts a lot. This time it's been different, I really enjoy sticking with one character. I've always admired friends who really worked so hard on their main, while I was trying to catch up a slew of alts. So, it's a nice change that I am actually enjoying. I am sure I'll make an alt one of these days but for now I really love my inquisitor. How about you? Are you an alt person or do you prefer sticking with a main?

Safe adventures all!

Perspectives (EQ2)

Yesterday I spent most of my play time questing in the Sinking Sands formerly known as the Oasis of Marr (In EQ). It was new and old at the same time. New because I haven't really had a chance to explore there much and old because it reminded me of the original EQ zone. There were the docks (TRAIN TO TEH DOCKS!11), specters, sand giants, spiders, dune beetles, mummies, and so on. It really was neat having a nostalgic feeling but being a different game altogether. I think this helps immerse, me at least, into the game.

I'm actually a bit high for just starting here. I hit 57 then decided to stop and AA for a bit. So, I wanted to go back and pick up some of the quests I missed and get a bunch of AA xp while I was at it. I finally moved from the Cleric AA tree to the Inquisitor tree and my perspective of the class has really changed. I've heard mixed reactions in the past when asking which was the better priest for DPS. Some people claim the Inquisitor is very slow and painful and then other claim they are awesome when you get the AAs you need. What I'm working on now is turning my spells into combat arts which just floored me with how different the play is. It can seem rather slowish until you get to this point. No more slow casting, bam-bam numbers flying! It's really nice to see the class open up to being a dps oriented priest. A battle Cleric for sure. I enjoy being a healer but being able to solo well  is important to me also.

It's also nice to group with Dire and do a little dps, the CAs cast faster than spells, allowing me to throw in some heals in between, which is nice. Plus my mana regen is much better than it use to be! Last night we finished up a heritage quest and I ended up banking a few more AA. He is much lower than I still, sitting at 36 with close to 60 AA while I have around 53. I finally took his advice and started working on AA again.

On another note, my brother is thinking about playing. He got bored with his venture back to WoW- rather quickly. I think he would really enjoy EQ2 if he got a feel for it. He complained about it feeling foreign, as far as the controls go. The only advice I can give is that any new game feels odd when you first start, one day it just snaps into place and feels right. But that takes time and then it's not so weird and strange feeling. I honestly don't think there is anything else that would hold his interest long term so I took some time to show him around the game last night and let him see what he hasn't in the past. He now has a different outlook on it and really liked what he saw, so I hope he gives it a chance and comes to play with us!

It's sometimes hard to convince someone how great a game can be. If they are use to a certain game for years it can be hard to adjust to a new one. Though sometimes a game can really be appreciated more so if someone takes you under their wing and shows you the ropes- You don't feel so overwhelmed as if you are drowning out there on your own. I know it would have helped me in the past. It took me many times trying EQ2 to get a real feel for it. So how about you, reader, do you feel it's harder to start a new game or do you like to just jump into something new? Or maybe you've had a hard time trying to get friends to play something with you but they don't see how great it is? What do you try to show your game off?

Have a great weekend!

Pondering On Classes (EQ2)

Lately I've been messing around in Everquest 2 more so than Everquest. I just suppose I don't want to burn myself out on Everquest, plus there is a lot for me to mess around with. I kind of got cranky the other night on my Paladin and put it on hold for a little. My Shaman has gained some more AA's, but nothing really interesting to write about these days. I need to do more with the anniversary events. I've been sort of busy lately though.

My Inquisitor in EQ2 hit 21 last night. I've been really slow leveling her. I have been gathering materials to sell on the broker also though. Also, I recently made a little Fey Warden just to see how I like the class. I'm currently torn between the two. I like them both a lot and wonder which would be the better choice.

The Warden has ports, but then again the Inquisitor has Odyssey which sends (me) or a friend back to bind spot. No cool down, just regents. Both can go melee spec, which is what I want. Both are healers which is what I think I would like to do in groups and high end. The Warden has a run speed buff, then again I have the CE mount that is 65% speed (claim one per character) so that isn't really a big deal. The Warden has fast heals with a HoT tied in and the Inquisitor has bigger slower heals along with reactive heals. So I suppose it comes down to choice. Both healing styles are fine by me.

So, I suppose I will work on the Warden some more and get more of a feel for it then decide which one I like playing more. The Inquisitor was feeling a little slow, but I purchased some new gear which should help a bit and a nice 2h mace. Ah, the choices. Why did they have to make so many appealing classes?!
