Torchlight

Last night I went out to grab Dire UFC Undisputed for the PS3 and I saw Torchlight. I've been meaning to try this one out for some time, so I thought I'd pick it up. From the makers of Diablo, Fate and Mythos the cover said. I liked all three of those. Out of the three it reminds me most of Mythos and Fate With some Diablo music. I remember many people writing about this one several months ago, I'm slow at times- going at my own speed.

I really am enjoying it so far. I only got to play for a short bit last night but it is really a lot of fun. Usually I have Dungeon Siege for when I want to play an offline dungeon crawl. I love Dungeon Siege. I don't play offline games very much these days though. Anyhow, I didn't like you couldn't customize the character, then again that made it more like Diablo than Fate in that aspect. And I am stuck playing a male character if I don't want to play the one female class. Other than that I was really happy with the game.

I love the pet, I forgot to name mine so he is stuck as Spot. I picked a ferret, he was just so cute. That was another thing similar to Fate, you pick a pet also. The pet goes to town selling my items for me, very cool. I always wanted a pet to do my bidding! I should have named him Lassie. Also fishing is cool, once again another fate like aspect. (Yes, I know quite a lot about Fate, my son absolutely loves that game!)

I've been interested in Dragon Age: Origins for awhile and not yet had a chance to play it. I was considering it for the PS3 so everyone could play it. I don't know though if it will be as good on the console though. I do know my computer won't do it justice in it's current state, Dire's would though. But then again I wanted something everyone could play. I will probably hold off on this one for now.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

  1. Torchlight is essentially a Fate sequel, in case you were wondering. They were developed by the same team who put together Fate and previously worked on Diablo 1 and 2.

They're currently working on a Torchlight MMO too...

  2. Yeah, I saw the designers listed on the cover. They also did Mythos, which it reminds me of the most I think. Mythos was great.

I think there is actually a second part of fate- Undiscovered Realms- released in 2008.

A Torchlight MMO would truly rock!
