Happy New Year!

Randolph The Reindeer- Vanguard SoH. Basically you talk to an NPC to get him. Sooo nice to fly around the world, too bad it doesn't work after the holiday. That was nerfed back in March :(

Wheeeeeee!

I really would love to sub back to Vanguard, I just wonder how much the game will offer me in the long run. On a positive note more content is coming out soon... But I'm not interested in raiding :(

A six dot level 20 mob. Too bad we couldn't kill him because we couldn't get more than three players.... Seriously why wasn't this changed to a group mob? This is what holds me back from Vanguard SoH, though it is a truly awesome game in many aspects, it sometimes feels so neglected still. However I still love it.

A woodelf and her jester dolly.

Dire and I. BIG BOOTS FTW. My new BIG Galoshes.. Gotta love Hero's Forge. I like Big Boots and I cannot lie... Anyhow...

Clearing out the towers in BoT. Double XP today and tomorrow in EQ!

Happy New Year!

Eye Candy

Meet Gwin THE AWESOME. The Christmas Ferret! He's been taking up a lot of my time.
Blame him for lack of posts!

New mount, a LoN claim. Woot! Very fast mount and it looks sweet too.

Dire and I in Dragon Necropolis.

My spooky pumpkin pet and I.

Back off THUNDER THIGHS! Was a weird shot as a mob ran across the screen as I was taking it, lol.

Love the different colors of the sky in Rift.

Some of my Christmas/Yule decorations in my dimension- Rift.
Christmas in Vanguard SoH! Scary masks galore! Damn you Vanguard, you make me want another sub... lol.

The presents around the tree are able to loot over and over, while you will get a lot of candy/junk, there are
a lot of neat house decorations inside, as well as masks.

Quality Holiday Time

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. We had a lovely time, Dire even managed to get some much needed time off. Thus we ended up playing EverQuest. Which I really didn't expect to do. Last week he decided he wanted to play again and he's been mentioning how fun it would be if we started another duo, fresh and go through fun old content. He often goes to many games I play, gives them a shot at least, so I thought it only fair to play something with him this time. Since he plays so little I figured it couldn't hurt and I actually enjoyed myself more than I thought I would. Plus, it seems we had some free time on the accounts, via a promotion. We also got a massive bag through the /claim, yay.

We managed to hit level 50 by the time we finished up the weekend play. In all reality it just flew by, plus we have the grandfathered recruit a friend bonus on our linked accounts. He made a warrior and I a druid. EverQuest is a much different game than it was back in the day, but it still has a lot of good memories for us, many of the mechanics are the same as well. It isn't the time consuming MMO it once was, which makes it much easier to jump into. It does take longer for things than a lot of newer games but being able to get going isn't the task it once was. Instead of looking for a group for ages, we can just grab some mercs or duo.

What I like about EverQuest is that it doesn't feel shallow. It doesn't feel like there is nothing to do when you get to the cap. You also don't feel rushed to the cap, there is so much to do along the way. Often locking in a level to work on AA is the thing to do and it doesn't feel like your hindering your progress. It can get repetitive though, but it is also nice that there are so many routes you can go while leveling. 'Where do we go today?' Is often something we ask each other when we are playing.

I'm still playing Rift! I'm not going anywhere anytime soon, I have a year sub there. I didn't get much playing over the weekend but that was because I was spending time with family mostly, doing last min shopping and such. I do admit sometimes being the leader of even a small, and growing guild, can sometimes be a bit overwhelming. I think that has a lot to do with personal reasons, which I'll touch on in another post. Anyhow, wonderful people in this guild. I just can't get over how much I enjoy the community in Rift. Always friendly people, lots of interaction, even with people outside the guild. Reminds me of the old days of EQ, people were just more... social. They still shock me in EQ as well, in a good way, it's a caliber of people you don't find in most new games, or should I say- Games that don't really have a reason to focus on community.

Other than EQ and Rift, I did manage to poke into EQ2. Not that I got much done. I want to do some holiday crafting over the next few days, as time allows. I read that EQ2 was having a promotion for free time also, but I'm not flagged for it I suppose. I don't know what the requirements are for it, honestly. I logged into GW2, saw a few events but didn't really do much. The event didn't feel like it had much direction so I didn't feel like I needed to get sucked into it. I just wanted to look and see how the art team did. It was a gorgeous work of art. GW2 might not be my favorite MMO but I do love the art direction, top notch. Just stunning!

So many wonderful holiday events this year, it is hard not to just run to them all and bounce around! It is also the first Christmas I can remember that I have NOT been playing WoW. It does feel weird but I miss the old WoW, not what it is now, but I guess that is nostalgia biting me. I'd love to be able to pop into TSW to see how it is doing but I just don't have the time right now. I will save that for a rainy day, when I need something new and fresh. I am glad it is there! Love the new direction they are going with B2P. It is a much better model than most of these F2P games that try to bleed your wallet dry.

Til next time! Safe adventures!

Eye Candy

Some guild members and I. I absolutely love this guild, Stellar, the people are so wonderful. They anchor me, which is hard for me to do in games these days.

I'm a corgi! My pet is a corgi! Is there anything cuter?

Fooling around with a new guitar toy in SL. It plays some neat songs, annoyingly enough it causes me to sit in the air, the animation scripted into the item. Since I cannot edit the animation out... I had to find a stool prop I made awhile back. Maybe I should make my own! A good project to work on.

Twig and I, ready for winter. Adventure Time swag galore, you can't see it but I even have an adventure time backpack on. I need to help her make a Fiona outfit and I can be Marshal Lee, lol.

My house, which I am thinking about making myself a huge one, since we have our own place to mess around in, which means LOTS and LOTS of prims. Well, it isn't mine but I like to think of it as home. Twiggy and I at the new table.

Fae Yule Is Here!

Fae Yule has come to Rift. Last year I wasn't able to participate, or rather, I didn't have an active subscription. I'm enjoying the event, collecting snowflakes, riding on a sleigh while I smash through snowmen, doing fun daily quests, getting cool holiday loot!

Which means my leveling has slowed down. But it's no big rush, the event is fun and I want to collect as many goodies as I can. I still haven't touched the dimension vendor, I want a few things for the guild hall and my personal dimension. From what I gather, the event has multiple phases, I also read there will be a quest for a mount, one also drops randomly, no luck so far! I did manage to get the cuuuuutest corgi, Rudy. He's simply adorable, with this little, red nose and antlers!

The guild is going well, growing. Such a nice bunch of people. I really enjoy the guild and all of our members. It is probably the most interaction I've had in an MMO in quite sometime. I have been in guilds over the last year but nothing really felt like home. I'd say my EQ2 guild was the most welcoming in the past year, they still are happy to see me upon logging in, that did feel like home for awhile. But I don't know, maybe it is the community here in Rift, maybe it is the fact that I'm the one who started this guild. Maybe I'm making more of an effort? I don't think that is it, I always try to be chatty and friendly, as well as helpful. Maybe it is a combination of everything. I love it though. I'd like to set up some events that many levels can participate together in. I'm just so out of energy lately, perhaps in a month things will settle down after the holidays.

Last night I did a bit of work on the Laptop, it was in dire need of maintenance. It has been about a year since I really played anything on it. It isn't much of a gaming computer but I wanted something to mess around on in the living room, in the evenings. So, that took some time to fix. When I installed Rift and went to patch it, I got this yucky error (Error- 1009) which basically told me it was unable to connect and patch. Read up about it and everyone says- Format, format, format. I was not in the mood for that, no way. After a bit of work, some research and lots of time spent, well, it turns out it was a virus causing the issue, got it cleaned up and everything is all fine and dandy. I also had noted that the firewall settings were messed up and unable to be altered, glad I got it all fixed.

We also added a new member to our (RL) family, which has been keeping me busy too. No, not another kid! Those days are long gone! My son has had rats over the years and has missed having a small pet to keep him company (two cats and a dog aren't enough it seems), but I just wasn't up for another rat. Ours ran into so many health problems, and it was painful to watch them deteriorate over such a short lifespan as well. Thus we now have a ferret. It didn't help that I've always wanted one too, lol. As a child I would have done anything for one, I know how it is to really want a pet like that. His name is Gwin (from the Inkheart books, which he looks just like the ferret in the movie). He is the cutest little guy, he has bounds of energy as well. He's been fixed and his scent glands are removed, thankfully. While he has a strong smell, he doesn't stink the house up, like some I've seen years ago. So, busy, busy, busy days. Below is a pic of him, so hard to get him to sit still for a pic, one out of twenty!

That's it for today, safe adventures and all that!

12-12-12

I just love the armor in this game, all the detail. Robes actually feel like robes within this game as well, nice change after wearing some truly horrible robes in some of my games!

Rift!
I'm still here, I just have been busy. When I have some free time I pop into Rift instead of writing about it ;) Which always means a game has to be pretty engaging if it pulls me away from writing. I hit 54 this week. It is slow going but I also take time off to decorate and putter around.

Our guild is going quite well. We're small but we have some really cool people. I'm so glad I decided to go the route of creating my own. It has been a long time- too long- that I log in and really talk to people and get to know them. Sure, I have here and there in some guilds but this just feels different. It's quite nice, I enjoy the people and while the leveling of the guild is slow it is a great place to be nonetheless. Some people log in on an often basis, others once a week or so. I keep everyone in the roster, it is always nice to be able to come back and know you're not going to be kicked out because you don't play all the time. I know some m members were worried about that. I wanted this to be a place that people are happy to be, where they feel among friends and always welcome. We're growing, our little guild. I absolutely love it. Once again, if you're on Faeblight and need a home, we're a casual laid back guild who prides itself on quality over quantity. Our doors are always open and we welcome people wanting a family style guild. You can find me on as Belladahna.

We now have a guild hall as well! It is so lovely. Since the prices were dropped across the board for dimensions it was much easier to get that out of the way. Now we now have a place to hang out. Everyone can take part in decorating, I want everyone in the guild to enjoy it. Though I've been told by some members that they cannot access it without Storm Legion. Not sure what the deal is with that. I know you can have a starter dimension without having the expansion, so I don't know why one would not be able to visit a guild dimension.

I don't see us raiding, I don't have that goal in mind. More of a place for us to gather, do five mans, hunt rifts and just help each other in general. Just hang out, talks, whatever. My raiding days are over, I don't have the pull or interest in that direction anymore. There is still plenty to do though.

I've also been visiting other dimensions and I've found some really fantastic designs. I'm also working on my own, which is always relaxing and fun, my favorite thing to do some nights. I've been excited about the holiday event coming this week- Fae Yule, more goodies to add to my house and guild hall. I can't wait to see what all will be available.

Leveling is sloooow. There, I said it. Sometimes that really deters my interest in playing but this far I just keep at it, enjoying my class. It hasn't really diminished my desire to play, even if it is a bit slow. I'm now playing with a strong Necro build, pulling on the warlock for a second tree, the dps is much better than my old spec and it is a lot of fun with many skills to fall back on if I get into trouble.

What Else?
On another note, Trion has done some 'downsizing'. From what I hear it is mostly QA and EQ, not too clear though. I hope this doesn't hurt development. I feel badly for those who lost their jobs, may they find work soon, such a terrible time of the year to be out of work! My heart goes out to those people.

Pay once, play forever? TSW has gone F2P it seems. It will be like GW2, Funcom claims, buy the box, play for free, with a subscription route as well. Subs will be awarded a type of rested xp bonus with costumes on top of that, as incentive. I thought this would be in the cards sooner than later. I suppose this gives me more of a chance to poke back in and check things out. There is a great interview here, with lots of good information. It seems the company has a good idea on direction, we'll just have to see if they stick by it. Thus far I like what I hear.

GW2 has Winter's Day heading our way this week as well. The art direction looks stunning, as always. The art is top notch and breathtaking. I'm sure I'll pop in just to admire that, if anything. The event looks fun and it lasts more than a weekend, heh. Nice to see a longer event heading our way.

And... if you want to check out Storm Legion, there will be free time this weekend, Dec 14-18. Former subscribers can try it out without limitations over this period. If you've been on the fence now is a great time. Don't have a 50 character? Still a nice time to try out the new souls!

Pics!
In closing I'll leave you with some pics from Rift. Some of our hall, some of the houses dimensions I've taken time to check out thus far. Enjoy!

This is one of my faves, I think it was Pyro's Fishing Hole. Lovely bunch of building this player as done, Faeblight server.

Love the Conquest Projectors. They really make the sky look awesome.

This was a very cool house, this dimension also had a huuuuge slide. Think it was called Eye Candy Slide, Faeblight server.

Pool table and bar, too cute!

Dive Bar. This is on Faeblight as well.

Go up past the bar to take a dive!

Santa's workshop?!

I love how this player added in little carts of gifts under the tree! Great imagination. I think this was 'Home for the holidays' on Faeblight.

A lovely deck someone built with some chairs to sit among the tree tops.

More houses, these were really fantastic!

Beach houses a player built.

A player actually built this little house in the starter guardian dimension. Took me a moment to figure out which dimension I was in! Great work!

Our lovely guild hall! Work in progress but it's coming along nicely.

The back of the dimension. A guild member built that fantastic ramp leading up, behind me.

My own personal dimension, roots overhanging the path to the door there.

One of the rooms I am working on in my own dimension.
